Glue (preferably wood or craft glue)

Glitter or glitter paint

Step 1: Glue five craft sticks in a fan shape to create the gown. Start with two overlapping pairs, each in a fan shape, and then glue the fifth stick in the center to anchor the design.

Step 2: Make wings by gluing three craft sticks in a fan shape. Repeat with the other wing.

Step 3: Glue the wings under the gown. Top with the flat circle.

Step 4: Decorate with glitter or glitter glue.

Step 5: If this is near Christmas time, glue a thread or ribbon in a loop to the back of the angel to make an ornament.

Have the children make their own coat of many colors to act out the story of Joseph.

You will need:

Paper grocery bag for each child
Markers or paint and paintbrushes
Scissors

Turn the bags upside down and cut a hole in the bottom for the child’s head. Cut a line from that hole down the wider side of the bag all the way to the top to create the front opening. Cut two small holes in the sides for the child’s arm.

When the children are ready, give each of them a coat. Instruct them to decorate it however they want. The only rule is that it has to have “many colors.” When they are done, take turns acting out the story of Joseph using the coat as a prop – just don’t tear it when the brothers are selling Joseph into slavery!

This craft can be used in any Bible lesson that deals with food.

To make the clay you will need:

¾ c flour
½ c salt
1 ½ tsp. Powdered alum
1 ½ tsp. Vegetable oil
boiling water
food coloring (optional)

Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, and then add vegetable oil. Add the boiling water slowly, stirring constantly. The dough should be dry, not sticky, so only add the amount of water you need, and this will vary depending on the humidity in the room. Add food coloring, if desired, and knead until it is mixed. The clay takes at least 48 hours to dry, but can be painted once dry.

To make a bowl:

Roll the clay into a ball, and push your thumbs into the center to make a dip. Pinch the sides so that it makes a bowl shape. Do not push all the way through, because you do not want a hole in the bottom of your bowl. Place the bowl on a flat surface and push down slightly to flatten the bottom. Let it air dry and then paint it the next week.
